I really like the Hobbyking 2400kv motor I ran last summer. Hard to beat for the price, and it's plenty fast. In my RX8 Gen2, I have the current limiting turned down to 25, and it could still light up all four tires. If I get to run it this summer, I'm going to turn it down more, until it barely spins the tires when I punch it.
I found the VST 2100kv just turned the car around if you punched it the torque on it was huge, and it was difficult to gear it up without the ESC getting upset, I was pulling 90 amps geared with a 20t pinion down the straights, my 1/8 Buggy with a Hobbywing 2200 sensored only pulls 75!
Bit of a balancing act between torque and rpm, we have an rpm limit of 2300kv to deal with as well.
