Everyone should be telling you that the 2.4's are for more higher grip situations. You're trying to reduce rolling resistance and sidewall flex for quicker reaction times.
My current set of tires are 2.2 gold barcodes with the bead cut off and mounted on 2.4 bullet rims. Not exactly an easy glue job but they've held for the most part. I've had to touch up a few spots. Just wish the 2.4 tire carcass thickness was the same as the 2.2s but they're afraid of losing sales so they're thinned out to get used up quickly. er uh so they break in and perform faster.
