Even back then, you bought the aftermarket "tuned" motors, and that's what I'd continue to recommend if you're serious about 17.5. There's a couple companies that build mass produced numbers and can hand pick them for you. Trinity does this with their "certified" line, as does Express as well. I believe R1 wurks does, but I don't have any experience with their stuff.
