The Pro 2 is pretty durable with the exception that the drivetrain will not take too kindly to modern mod power. Even 17.5 may add some wear and tear and expect to rebuild the ball diff a bit more often. I have a Pro 2 that I am restoring (when I get around to it).
21.5 and VTA should be okay for the car.
