This may be overtaken by events since RobK said the 45 degree timing rule is going away. But to answer your question, right now I'm not aware of any. Some here have suggested aligning specific points on the exterior of the motor. I've asked for more specifics as to where those alignment points should be (i.e., those used by the factory teams) to see if they check out on my two Novak motors that I have timed at 45 degrees with my motorlyser. So far no reply. It might be better than the timing label but by how much is the question that perhaps doesn't need to be answered now?
