All of the front ends are based off of AE. The CRC is just a pivot ball version. With the long arm up top, it just moves the upper hing point back to where AE has it. The AE front end really set a standard and the current front ends are refined versions. The SM is a nice revision of the AE front end that was used prior to the strut. So, in a nut shell, X Ray didnt do anything out of the norm.
