bent the carbon axle. Was wondering if you can get a steel axle for the trf101?

My carbon axle bent/cracked at the diff-plate. First thing I did was to pop the little pin out and remove the axle from the diff plate. Then I turned the axle around and re-drilled a small hole for the pin. That way the axle clamp on the Left Hand side of the car squeezed right over the cracked area and it ran fine like that for a while.
Just today I got the Tamiya carbon axle ITEM# 54162 and I think it can be drilled and trimmed to fit as a replacement. I'll post if it worked ok.
The 54162 is less expensive than the combined TRF101 Axle and Diff plate that they sell.
