I know some of my others motors can got to 90deg no probs, but what is a safe temp for this motor? Would like to try 38 deg timing or even 40, but seeing as these motors are hard to get, I don't wanna blow it!

I need slightly more top end, should I increase timing up to 40deg? Or go to the next bigger sized pinion?

With 4.9 fdr @ 36 timing, my car was a rocket out of corners and on the straight was only very very slightly pulled away from by the fastest car!
No one beloved my car was in blinky mode!
This motor is insane !
Oh yeah, my other motors are D3.5 & killshot!
On a medium sized track with high traction, 40deg should work fine. But if not, leave your timing just the way it is right now and try increasing your pinion size. Anywhere from 4.5-4.1 should be ok depending on your tracks layout.
