One thing you learn when racing is not to skimp on quality. Sure, if you are jus bashing and driving around a parking lot the hobbywing and losi motors are fine, but when you're racing you stick to the brands that produce quality. You can spout all you want to your generics, that's fine. I am sure you find spectrum to be a good brand also. If op isn't racing then I'd say get what you want and penny pinch, but is sacrificing quality and power really worth 40-50 dollars in a hobby that by no means is cheap to begin with?
