It seems both the Tamiya and Roche blades do not hold up well to braking and thus cause them to break on the backside.

I don't bother with blades when using a spool. I use the Smokem spool cups and they last forever in mod. Since they don't need blades, I don't have to worry about blades breaking mid-run either.
