James, I think my comments may have been misunderstood. I am not in favor of 'fixing' anything. (there has already been too much rules scrabble in the past few years) I was only trying to point out why derisive comments of what was popular in Japan were incorrect. (I have given up on trying to impose courtesy or respect, so was only trying to point out factual errors)
it is also true that I have bumped into the upper gearing limits. seems like future development needs to move to more rpm.
