On my pro ten car I have based my setup on using the hardest tires I can get away with, with as little ackermann as I can get in there, so I loose as little speed going into the corner as possible. We're always fighting to make run time, running on 1/8th scale gas tracks with ridiculously timed 12turns mod's.
I'm only just starting out in 1/12th and I've already found that altough the cars are very similar, the setup must be completely different! Where I'm always looking for more steering with my pro ten, I need to dial out as much traction as possible on my 1/12th!
It looks to me that Asso-based cars tend to get more steering as overall traction increases.
