I did email him, and i was told this was 'normal'. I bought 2 shorty packs last June, they arrived on time and were both puffed, one more than the other. I was told that it is normal for them to puff a bit because they stuff so much battery in there and the case walls are thin. Never had an issue with Pro-Tek or Aero-Model batteries puffing.
If it's a matter of squeezing thicker cells into a case that's not quite large enough for them then that's one thing but I'd still want to know when they intended to re-tool the case so that it fit.
If the pack is arriving flat-sided and then it changed, that would be cause for worry. The original Horizon/Losi short packs used to puff a little bit and I've never heard of one causing a fire but I would still not choose a battery from a label that said "puffing is normal". It's not normal and it's not safe.
