I have a TB-03 and it is noiser than my TA-05. Shaft cars have gears in the drive train that trasfer power to the tires, this gives a sound that the belt drives don't have. But, if not shimmed correctly it can be much louder a sound. I can't decide which car I like better but the torque coming out of the corner on a shaft car is awesome and the smooth acceleration of the belt drive is easy to manouver through the corners is so easy to drive.
The TB-04 has an extra set of gears to compensate for the motor at 90 degrees from the shaft so again if not shimmed properly it can make a lot of noise and bind the drivetrain.
I race at the Tamiya track here in Aliso Viejo and it's hard to compare the three chassis but based on the last Speedtech race, the TB-04 made podium the first time out, now that is impressive!
