I hear ya. I tried to make my own and the holes were kinda oval and in the end I made a mess of them. A new set of stock pistons was $12, these custom ones were $16 - and they were the 1.6 & 1.7's I wanted. Had I known they would be the same fit as the stock ones, I'd have likely just gone and bought the Avids.
Worthless? hardly, not as precise? certainly.
I just thought I'd share my experience.
