I use the narrow dcj's in the front and they work great, you should try them.
They didn't come with the special bearings and I don't have laying them around. Short shafts make the too aggressive on big carpet tracks IMO. On a 20x12m track I use my 1.6mm X-ray shafts. But my 2.0mm ecs shafts from X-ray are weak.
