With shorties the car weighs quite a bit less. It will accelerate faster,brake in less distance,jump higher,turn faster etc which is great for tighter more technical tracks that dont need a ton of power.Basicly it will be more responsive and nimble feeling. Indoor tracks usually use quite a bit less power so runtime is not normally an issue with the shorties.
With brick or full size batteries the motor will have a little more grunt and have more overall power. The car will be a little lazier in the turns and will feel a little more stable at the expense of some corner speed.
