Has anyone mocked up longitudinally mounting the motor? With a bevel type gear set like this:
bevel differential . I think it could fit. The drive shafts from the diff to the wheel don't have to be at a right angle with how the drive shaft connects to the diff, so I think you could make room by pushing the motor and diff back farther. Hard to describe without a picture...
