Wider rear: usually more steering, more reactive.
I tend to think making the car wider all around frees it up, but I can't confirm that for sure.
Yes I have a little. I even stopped using the stock clamp on hex and just use a Associated hex. They are thicker and don't require any shims to make it wide. I does seem to free it up a little. Good for carpet.
