Ok so after extensive use of the v10 motors, here's what I think.
Im running a v10 with a v3.1 stock spec ESC. I feel like the motor had tremendous top end. I'm pulling guys down the straight even when they're geared more aggressively than I am. However, even after playing around with tons of gear ratios, I feel like the motor lacks a bit of torque. It's almost as if its more suited to running outdoors (I run on a small-medium carpet track). The end speed is crazy but I just couldn't get it to accelerate like some other motors.
That being said, it's incredibly smooth, and lets me stay on throttle a lot because I feel I can keep corner speed instead of getting really aggressive acceleration outta corners.
