I know Xray makes a big deal about Swiss duraluminum and luxury this and that. No doubt they produce an excellent car. However, just like everyone else most of their production is outsourced. There is nothing wrong with this. Apple buys complete iPhones from their manufacturer Foxconn in China. What we are seeing with Spec-R and CSO are the manufacturers of Xray, Tamiya, TOP, Kyosho, etc... chassis, molded parts and alloy parts making a few changes and marketing their own chassis.

Why are they so cheap? Because they are cutting out all the middle men and selling kits direct. A T4 starts out as parts in China that Xray buys (material and shipping costs) and bags as kits in Slovakia (marketing, facility and payroll overheads) then ships to RC America (marketing, shipping cost, facility and payroll overheads) then ships to an online store or LHS (shipping cost, facility and payroll overheads).

Everything in Parentheses is why a T4 costs $600.

A Spec-R or CSO starts in China as a complete kit (lower material, marketing and shipping costs) then goes to an online store or LHS (shipping cost, facility and payroll overheads).

Everything in Parentheses is why a Spec-R or CSO costs less than $300.
