I just bought one, should be arriving next week. Did I make a mistake? I also have been reading how people have been modifying the car. Is the car in need of mods or are people doing this to fine tune. I thought I read a decent amount of people enjoying the car.

You don't really need to make any modifications and it will be very competitive out of the box. Depending on the tracks you race on, adding a gear diff to the front might be a good modification. Some additional springs are always good to have on hand.
RSD DCJs are good if you use the spool. But even though they prevent some front end chatter, I don't believe this translates to faster lap times.
