I think the gears on the 008 transmission are OK. Making the change to Evolva spur gears will require a complete re-make of the transmission. My experience is that the 008 gears hold up fine.
Kyosho makes Evolva pinions in 15, 16, 17, 19, 20 and 21t gears and they will thread right onto the VS058 clutch bell. I have had many of my customers switch over to the VS058 in order to have a larger pinion gear selection.
