imo, the VII has more setting options for tuners that know how to get the most out of it, where as with the X1 you are always limited by a piece of flexing fibreglass, that will never be as consistent as dampers/springs
Both cars work well, though the X1 is easier to build, and slightly more durable depending on the t-bar you use
Conclusion, the VII isn't the better choice if you are not much into tuning.
I guess i'll need to find out for myself if the car is worth the money.
