Most, but not all, are running larger than 5000mah batts. Which is acceptable under ROAR rules. I met Eric, don't know what size his batts are, but he sure is FAST !! Plus another guy from Florida is darn quick too.

ROAR techs all the motors before racing begins. You take your motor COMPLETELY apart and present it to the race director. He checks rotor diameter with calipers, and the stator gets checked with a continuity tester. Then you reassemble the motor IN FRONT OF HIM. Where upon he assigns a number and puts a sticker on it. Plus he marks one of the screws with red paint.
From what I've seen everybody is using Novak motors, and since they don't make a 12.5mm rotor that would eliminate any "tuning" rotors for that.
