14mm is only on TD cars. Yes, if you do the 12mm hex mod you can use hex wheels from the 22 or AE cars.
I may be the only one, but I really prefer bearings in the wheels. Not only will you give up the ability to change the axle position up front, but there is less slop in a std bearing setup compared to hex. I wish the new 210 sc had bearings up front too. Oh well.
I have noticed that too but, I'd rather change out the part every so often and gain the ability to interchange wheels. That and I ran my axles all the way trailing anyway... Ha
