You could do that, some really like them..I never really liked the feel of the gear, and the ball diff lasts long enough for me, that the lack maintenance (gear) vs. feel (ball) is null and void for me..I have a pair of gear diffs just sitting in my tool box, and thats where they'll stay, unless I ever feel the urge to go carpet racing..
