A solid axle in r/c describes a one piece rear axle, as found on 1/12th, WorldGT and F1 chassis, and almost always includes a diff. The term comes from full size cars, where a solid axle is used in off road as a preference to independent suspension. An axle with no diff should properly be described as a locked axle.
