I used the instruction from the X-Ray NT1 instruction book. It did the trick.
The tech support engineer from my local hobby shop did the work.
The Xray book is more specific with the instructions on setting the clutch. For the Shepherd clutch a good place to start with the measurments is:
Clutch gap .40 to .50 Then fine tune from there
Spring tension. .35 to .45 then fine tune depending on track conditions.
