The 12.5s had more like a 3.5-4mm range of rollout where they could turn identical fast lap times. The only difference I saw with the rollout changes was how soon the motor starting fading... So I gear for fastest average lap over a 4-5min period.
I've been testing a similar thing with the rotors. Right now I am running the 12.3 broad powerband rotor at 4 positive hash marks of timing with a 96mm rollout. I had good success at our last club race using this.
What did you find to be a good starting point for the 12.5 high torque rotor?
