nutfluff - Hemet is a long way away from a lot of the racers in LA and around Hot Rod..and being the weekend following the Shootout, many racers needed a break.
The WASP has more power and great mid-range grunt, but you'll need an O.S. carb (and adapter) to make the engine easy to tune and drive. The CV-R is a great engine in its own right, and costs less than the Wasp after you buy the O.S. carb and adapter.
elvo - Red compound tires will not catch on ruts as much as Silvers will, and are often more consistent on loamy surfaces.
