What do you put on the o-rings before you install them?

I used to use grease and experienced the same problem. Once I started using regular shock oil on the o-rings, the problem went away.

Couple other things. Kit doesn't come with tires. You will also need some tools. You can do with what comes in the box, but the OP said he likes to tinker, so better tools are a must.
