@tfrankito - I could be wrong on this but i believe part of the reason for the heavy diff oils is because the diffs themselves are from a 1/10 buggy and the gear ratios of the diffs get thrown off...

@DMP - General consensus is 4 pole 540 4000kv is the best overall motor for the DESC, 4600kv is good for 1/8 tracks but is overkill on 1/10 stuff and the 550 size can adds to much unwanted weight...
