I just installed the extended A-arms but haven't had a chance to test them out yet. Keep in mind my MERV is for racing though so that's why I got them. Traxxas advertises that they increase stability...

The knuckles tend to crack and break because, like the A-arms, they absorb a lot of the blows. So you can either get cheap and light replacements, or buy strong but heavy and expensive aluminum ones.
