Most likely overkill - but you don't know until you try it! It's a 3800 motor BUT it's a 4 pole motor which ups the ante just a bit! As popular as these systems are, you could try it and I'm sure...

I ran mine the other night (4 x 4 Slash Platinum) somewhat undergeared (54 x 12), ran it for around 10 minutes (on the unprepped race track at Hobbyplex in Omaha, NE) and generated virtually NO heat....
