Yep, there are 2 axles to choose from, 1 is steel the other is ali'. The bearings in the blocks are replaced with plastic bushings and then regular bearings fit onto the axle and then onto your US...

I have already tried that! Had to drill a couple of holes for the chassis to accept it but it did work! Got various thickness centre plates to use.

The original plastic ones come in the kit but can be replaced with the ali' ones, which bolt in place instead of just being pushed in.
