the niggle guys are having is definately voltage drop no matter what system you are running.
If you powered the reciever from the main battery or used a cap, regulater etc.. the problem is no more....

The extra lead for charging a rx battery i cut off and soldered onto the legs for the input.
Messing around at home it was working like a charm, no glitches...

Doubt its the esc but not impossible.
I will most likely suspect voltage drop or a steering servo especially seeing you using a FUT 3001.

Make sure to fit a cap on the reciever and you should be ok.
Had this happen to me in the 1st leg of our regional champs...
