yea 60 watt should be fine.. i personally use a good 60/40 rosin core solder

/\ this... also don't cut off too much insulation.. 1/8" is all you need.. remember to put heat shrink tubing on before you solder the wires up.. use a real hot soldering iron as well when soldering...
