I'd bump it up to 6A and gear for heat.

If your still getting pulled...bump timing up a tiny bit at a time and gear for heat ( 140*ish)

What is the can timing set to on the motor with heat issues?

Have you asked others running the same buggy about gearing?

I've been running my 13.5 and 17.5 on my 22 .0 ( 4.0 on order..woohoo) in blinky mode, geared 28-30/70 with my 17.5 and ran an almost identical FDR with my 13.5 in blinky....

What ESC? MMax?

If so..lowering the PWM wI'll give a more aggressive throttle feel and lower temps. Raising it will give a more softer/smoother feel but raise temps.

What are your settings now?...

The RX port on my Sanwa is a tight fit too. You should have two RX cables in the box.

I unplug from the ESC end. Much easier.
