edited: silly comment. I understand it fully now what you want.

Typical 80mm fan is 0.15-0.18 amps. What size is it? and what kind of lights..led/neon?

Interesting project you have there!

You're in luck! this is what i do to save money..

What your going to do is to switch the power supply on. You can't do this with just a press of a button. You have to short some wires.

First, look for the large plug that is suposed to be attached to the motherboard.
Then cut all black wires and the green wires. If you short all these wires, the power supply will switch on. You can also put a switch in between theses wires to serve as a switch for the power supply.

Once you have taken care of that, it's time to find the wires that can give you 12V 12A(depending on the wattage of your power supply). Find the plug that is supposed to be attached to hard drives and disk drives. Once you've found one, the yellow and black wires wil give you 12V 12A.

Default pc supply conversion advise?

i got the power supply....im not going to start it until i know wheather it is useful or not.
so here go's what are the wattage and electrical spec's the power supply need for charging battarie's efficiently with out it struggling toward the end of a race meet.
note: input is 240 volts (Australian power main's) will this effect it differently in the wiring, application and performance compared to that of a 120 volt's input supply.(in America)

Your Peak charger should operate efficiantly a 7amps plus.. Most PC power suppliese can give out 8 amps +. and no 240 and 120V doesn't matter as long as you get 12V and 7Amps Plus... if you follow my instructions on my previous post, everything will be fine. I'll post pics as soon as i get my cam to be more specific.

Talking

ok fritz cool.
i found a supply from an old computer at the working good's part of my local dump.
(got the comp tower an old type writer in box still and a set of bmx handle bars for 5 buks aud......bargain.)

ok herE's my specific's on the pc power supply sticker on top of the unit.
input voltage and current is the
swith selectable standard =: 90-120 vac 4.0A
180-240 vac 2.0A

frequency =: 50-60 hz

output voltage =: +5v 16.0 A
+12V 5.5 A
-5V 0.3 A
-12V 0.3 A

that's the sticker layout.no wattage stated.
so looking at that it look's as if i can only get the 5.5 Amp's from the +12v wire's though the +5.5v wire's seem to get 16 amps (wish it was the other way around)
is there any way of makeing the +12v wires get 16 amp's aswell.

also i have the following component's 5 red bullet style bolt on female plug's and male insert connector's, only one black one and 4700 uf 16v capacitor.
aswell as the 10 watt 10 ohm wire wound load resistor along with a on-off switch and 12v led in a red bolt on casing.
all set though i may have to find another pc supply with more amp's on the +12v ??
or is there any way of making the already 5.5A +12V higher amperage???
i can get a 10 amp one but only brand new cost too much as this project is about saving money.

no you cant get 16A 12V with that thing. only 5.5amps... that's because that thing is an old power supply probably rated at 100watt... i bought a new power suppy which cost me arong 15$. It had 400watts of power and can give 12V and 14Amps... you can still used your power supply 5.5amps is good enough..

but in saying that will when the supply is finished and ready to use be able to run say two charger's on it, still at a max charge rate of 5.5 amp's from the both r/c ni/mh charger like it could with only one charger conected to it.
im guessing no?....
what do you think?

if you run two chargers, you'd then have to connect them in parallel to keep voltage constant however curret(amps) will be divided. If you use to the same chargers, then each will receive 2.25amps.
