Exclamation Broken .15 Pull-start.. Desperate need of help!

Today I just got my new ST-15 .15 Nitro in the mail. It's been sooo awesome and running great. I probably need to do some tuning on it, but I've run into a huge problem. I pulled the pullstart out way too far while trying to start it, and the entire string and handle came out with it. I unscrewed the 4 screws on the pullstart, but the pullstart assembly will not come out. I think this is a bigger job than I expected, and I need to know what to do. Is it easy to fix? Can I put the string back in there if someone tells me step by step how to?

I need all the help I can get. I do have a local hobby stop that I'll bring it in to tomorrow if I can't get DIY help here. Thanks so much!

I recieved your PM...we use Trillian to connect to all major IM programs, so myr AIM address is Zelon88. The Team MSN account is [email protected]. You can use these to get in touch with me for some live help. I don't know how much you can do to fix the problem, but if the string is still tied to the spool it might be salvagable. We've only ever been able to fix 3 or 4 pull starters that have broken around here...and that is a team total. It can get difficult to get the coil spring all coiled back up without either cutting yourself, or having it blow back in your face. I'll be on for a while just in case you need help.

IF you cant get it fixed here is by far the best and cheapest way to get your pull start engine back in action.

90% of people own a cordless drill do you? I hope so

and roto start is also great..fixing the pullstarts can be a big problem overwhelming..it takes alot of patience to fix them..i have a pretty good track record at fixing them..just got tired of doing it and switched to roto start on all my engines.when you do take it apart make sure you wind the spring back in the right direction.look at it when you get it apart to see which way the spring was turned.

yeah when I took it apart, the spring stayed just fine. On mine, the spring is all wound up at the back. I'm not sure if I'll be able to put it back together (I sure hope so.. I'll try later when I get home), but I already ordered the replacement pullstarter assembly.

That TIGER DRIVE link is really cool - I like that adapter that goes on the end of the bare backplate.

I think I'll just try to fix the pullstart. If I can't fix it, I'll wait for the new one to come in the mail. I'll get Platinum_Racing to help me try to fix it. Thanks

FYI pull start replacement parts or kits cost more then the tiger drive. I got the tiger drive for 18$ CND (about 10$US )

ok I'd need the TigerDrive adapter too. I have no idea what size I'd need, but if I break another one I'll look into it.

and here's all the TigerDrive stuff on Tower - LINK
