shock oil
If I put half 30 weight oil and the other half 40 weight in my shock, do I get 35 weight oil or a shock filled with two different oils ? Will they mix or will one float ?

They should mix, but won't quite be 35. Mix assumes both are same or similar brand/formulation (which most are as far as I know, just not positive). I forget the approximate ratio needed to split the difference, but it's a bit different than half and half.

thanks Dave. I used to race at Larry's btw. Racing out here is a lot different. Windy!!!

5 parts 40 = 200
350/10 parts = 35.
I've not seen separation, so I assume it's a homogenous solution, good point though!

Here is a silicone oil mixing calculator based on info from GE Silicone. It suggests 46% of 30 oil and 54% of 40 oil. 50-50 is probably close enough for practical purposes though. Perhaps more of an issue if mixing more dissimilar viscosities.
Yeah, it's not real windy at Larry's. Until some of the gang starts telling stories anyways. Great hobby shop.

thanx guys. Just snapped a shock at practice about an hour ago. 12 ft tall lawn dart. Full wick and the nose still wouldn't come up. If you want to see the jump go to the RC gears section in the Canada zone.
