the right battery for my cars.
Im getting back into the hobby... "For the kids"...
I have 4 yokomo mr4tc cars which are designed to hold 6cell nimh packs and will be equiped with " vintage" esc with out lvc (because iv got em).
What is a good battery for me and the kids to use?
We aren't racing so i just want a good quality pack with good runtime. Will be reliable and not crap out if it sits for 6 months. And give satisfactory performance.
I have 2 novak ss+ with 17.5 motors
A novak super rooster which will get a hotter brushed motor. And a stock esc w/21 turn brushed.

Lipo batteries will make it a lot more fun, if your ESC can utilize the extra amperage and handle the voltage. Regarding the low voltage cut off, there are accessories you can buy that either cut off the voltage for you or at least sound a very loud buzzer/alarm alerting you that the voltage has dropped below a specific threshold. Hobbyking sells these:

2S Lipo's would be my choice, but if you're letting your kids use it, depending on their maturity, you might want to stick with NiMH.
You can source sub-c's on Amazon and build your own sidebysides, or just get DuraTrax NiCd/NiMH sports packs. Both chemistries they sell have decent voltage and rather good discharge rate for sports packs.

Can't rly let any battery sit for 6 months. But I would suggest a 1s lipo
