Default Why no reverse during practice

I was out at the local track today and, for a while, was on the track shagging cars that flipped, got stuck, etc. There were quite a few buggies that didn't seem to have the ability to reverse. I understand that cars have race modes that disable reverse, but why would people run this during practice? None of the SCTs seemed to have this problem -- it was just the buggies.

Not a big deal -- mostly just asking because I'm curious.

Reverse is turned off. Reversing is not allowed during racing

I get that. However, as I said, this was during practice, not racing.

Controlling the brakes is a very important part of driving quickly, especially for a buggy. Frequently turning reverse on compromises the braking action.

Mainly because messing with the ESC setups is not what a racer wants to do while trying to get dialed in. I understand what your saying, it would be nice during practice when there are only one or two people, or none flipping cars. But I wont do it because I would hate to get disqualified because I forgot to switch my settings back. Also as mentioned before control of the brakes is probably 60% of driving especially controlling the car off jumps.

The other part is Training. IF you have it in practice, but not during racing, you might get trained to use it. In racing, because it is NOT allowed, Reverse in these cases is a band-aid and as others stated, can lead to accidents.

If you practice with out it, you won't become accustomed to using it. Plain and simple.

I think its totally different if you are out bashing in the street or parking lot or even in a Park. (We have a free track that was built in a park that is just open to the public with no sanctioned races. I see people use it there because its more open and again, its basher so no rules apply).

Don't use reverse on a track, especially during practice as there are all classes running and testing their cars.

Reverse is not allowed on most tracks that I've known.

Depends on the track. A lot of really fast guys at my local track do indeed turn it on for practice as it beats running down from the stand. Personally, I'm just too lazy to turn it on and it provides for extra incentive to not stick myself in a tube

Can't use reverse in a race so it's better to practice without it plus imo it helps you get better brake control while your practicing.

Plus with some speed controls it's not an on off switch your pushing buttons counting lights or hooking it up to a computer or programing box, most guys rather spend that time before a race making adjustments to the car cleaning and saucing the tires etc. hope this helps good luck!
