cycling NiCd stick packs
hi, what is the best method for cycling NiCd Stick packs.... my packs just don't have any puch anymore....
a few questions in particular...
1. How many volts per cell for NiCD.. still 0.9v as per the NiMh?
2. Should i just use a light to discharge and wait till it dims?
Cheers

Discharge until .9 volts, then charge them back up at around 7 amps. Don't leave them for days on end with a charge in them, and always discharge before storing.
How old are the packs. NiCD batteries in particular have a useful life. If the packs are very old it is probably a good idea to ditch them for some good GP cells.

I don't know of any proper methods, but what platinum mentioned is exactly what i would do if i were to cycle a nicad pack.
Discharging to 0.0 would do the cells some good. If you were to do this, charge them up right away. You don't want to fully deadshort your packs. So a nice thorough 3a discharge with a 0.00 cutoff would revive those cells back to new.
