Default Mounting surface

Ok wondering what people do to create a flat surface inside the chassis of your car to mount electronics. I want to put a voltage checker/alarm on the chassis with servo tape but don't have a flat surface to do so. I have a slash 4x4 LCG. I am wondering if there is an aftermarket maker for a platform I can screw onto one of the many available holes in the chassis or if I need to go Mcgyver and make something with a piece of metal a dremmel and a drill. Thanks for your time.
Mike
