Default battery cells vs motor kv

I have Castle Sidewinder sct with 1410 motor. As a combo it can run 2s. ESC can run up to 3s but with motor with lower kv. Question is: what can happen if will plug more cells that it's recommended (for eg. 3s to standard setup)?

Default

The main risk is likely too much current/amps for the ESC, causing it fail. Traces on the boards, the transistors, etc, something will be irreversibly damaged. Known as letting out the magic smoke!

In general, higher voltage drives an increase in current. Also higher kV motors take more current low kV. At some point the combination exceeds what the ESC is capable of.
