Default LIPO Charge Rate

A bit confused, if my charger charges in Amps, why does my Orion battery pack say "charge rates up to 5C"? I used to charge at 6 amps why the C reference?

Thanks Kevin

Means you can charge it, in amps, at 5x the rated capacity.

6000 * 5c = 30000 mah or 30 amps
5000 * 5c = 25000 mah or 25 amps
4500 * 5c = 22500 mah or 22.5 amps

This differs from most 1c rated batteries since:

6000 * 1c = 6000 mah or 6 amps
5000 * 1c = 5000 mah or 5 amps
etc.,

IF your charger can put out that kind of power, do so with caution. Personally, I never go above 2c charging. Had one house fire in my life, don't care to have another.

Good advice. I never charge at over 10amps, regardless of how many "C's" the pack could be charged at. Better safe than sorry.
