Default Help with choosing battery

I have a sprint 2 and im using a 7.2v 2000mah nimh battery right now i would like something with more mah to last longer (mine last from 15-25mins)as im just using the car for fun. On the controller i have it set up to go as slow as the car can to try and save some power. Im using the car to drift in parking lots and things of that nature. I didnt want to spend to much on a battery and im not 100% sure on this but i think after a certain mah i would need to upgrade my motor and or esc, however im just looking to get a longer lasting battery without buying any other upgrades besides a charger of course. i found a 7.2 5000mah battery nicd but im not sure if my car can handle it ( my car has a type 540 motor not sure about the esc)

let me know what you guys know or suggest! Thanks

Mah is only a rating of capacity, the 5000 will have roughly the same speed as the 2000 but it'll run a lot longer. It'll work fine in your car as-is.

Now if you wanted to go lipo you'd need to make sure your esc has a lipo cutoff and that your charger can charge them.

Not really if you get the Gens Ace batteries or turnigy batteries then they are a good price for a good battery. All I use is Gens Ace batteries. Since he would be only using 2s lipos then it is cheaper

I do agree that it is well worth the upgrade as long as your charger can charge them

i know that mah is only a rating of capacity of milliamps per hour and that it will not effect my speed at all and that the 5000mah will last 2.5 times as long as the current one i have i was just simply asking if i would need a new motor or esc for the new mah.
I thought about lipo but didnt want to invest that much money into a battery and also have to buy new charger since im only using this car to just mess around with.

Im going to buy the 5000mah 7.2v incd and try it out!
Thanks again though for the help

I have the Sprint 2 Flux & from experience I know mine will fit a Gens Ace 5300mah 2s lipo & Sky 5000Mah 2s lipo w/no issues. I've tried Turnigy's & their width & length are a little too much for that small compartment. Hope this helps a little.
