Although sensorless stuff isn't the greatest for a 2wd buggy where being smooth is often more important than being fast, you're going to have a hard time finding anything "better" for "low money". In fact, the Castle 5700 you have will be more than enough motor for just about any 2wd buggy out there. 2wd buggys are very limited in how much power they can actually use - even just playing around.

thanks i had the 5700 in a b44.1 and it was a tad slow. my hoddy shop had a fire and i cant put a esc and motor on layaway. so i took the 5700 out of my b 44.1 and put in the losi. to try out. it a lot faster in the buggy. i just play and dont race. ill look at 8.5 trun now and save up for one. can i keep the esc in it and just get a new motor. thank t you.
As for a new motor, most 8.5 motors and the like will be sensored and will probably not work or not work well with your ESC. I'd recommend putting the Castle system back in your 4wd buggy with a bigger motor for that if you still run that car and buying a used race-grade ESC that will run sensored to get the most out of your 2wd buggy even though you're only playing around. You can find often find used LRP, Tekin, etc. ESC's in the for-sale ads here that when paired with a new motor, would cost roughly the same as a new combo pack from Castle.

In a 4wd buggy, might as well go all the way. You can easily turn down your radio's throttle epa if it's too much.

You should be able to control heat through gearing. Buy a smaller pinion and I can't see why anyone would have even told you a 5700 was too much for your B44.1. For example, a Castle 5700 is a bit slower than a sensored 8.5 in most cases in the real world and when racing, many racers use a 6.5-7.5 in 4wd buggy.

Just make sure you adjust your gearing and while you're at it, an affordable temp gauge is always worth having around.
